This sun-dried and bleached pile of winter fuel lay outside the villa belonging to friends in Gocek, South West Turkey. It gave several mornings of peaceful work on the drawing. Later the layers were built up with watercolour, dry and wet layers with added texture from other mixed media.

Several stages of drawing with graphite, conte and ink and then dry brush interspersed with light washes and pastels.
